About the Department
Established as a center of excellence, the Department of Cardiology offers advanced cardiac care and academic programs, including DM-Cardiology, BSc & MSc in Cardiac Technology, and fellowship programs in specialized areas. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a 24/7 Cath Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, Advanced Echocardiography Unit, and Hybrid Operating Room for complex interventions. It provides a full spectrum of cardiac services, including Coronary Angioplasty (PCI), Structural Heart Interventions (TAVI, MitraClip), Electrophysiology & Ablation, Heart Failure Clinics, and Pediatric Cardiology Services.
A dedicated Cardiac Critical Care Unit (CCU) ensures specialized care for critically ill patients, alongside cutting-edge programs like Preventive Cardiology, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Services.
The department is actively engaged in clinical research, contributing to over 300 publications in top-tier journals like JACC, Circulation, and EHJ and serving as a site for ICMR, DBT-funded studies, and international clinical trials.
Led by a distinguished faculty with national and international recognition, the department continues to push the boundaries of cardiovascular science, innovation, and patient care.

Infrastructure & Facilities:
- Interventional Cardiology: Angioplasty, stenting, pacemaker insertion, and balloon valvuloplasty.
- Electrophysiology & Arrhythmia Management: Diagnosis and treatment of irregular heartbeats, including ablation procedures.
- Heart Failure Clinic: Advanced treatment plans for heart failure patients, including medication and device therapy.
- Pediatric Cardiology: Diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart diseases in children.
- Preventive Cardiology: Lifestyle modification, diet counseling, and risk assessment.
- Holter Monitoring – Continuous ECG monitoring for 24-48 hours.
- Stress Test (TMT) – Evaluates heart function under stress.
- Pacemaker Implantation (Basic) – Single-chamber pacemaker for slow heart rate

- Best case presentation in national conference of Lata Medical Research Foundation.
- Best Assistant award for year 2010- 2011 at GMC Mumbai and J.J. Hospital Mumbai
- Selected for CTO case presentation at IJCTO Cochin in 2016.
Academic Achievements:

- PDA DEVICES IN 3 kg weight neonate.
- PDA stenting in critical neonates.
- One of the institutes with highest Number of successful CTO interventions
- One of the few institute doing complex adult and Paediatric Cath lab interventions in Maharashtra.
